Massage Therapy is a hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints to enhance the function of those tissues and promote relaxation and wellbeing. Therapeutic massage can ease tension and reduce pain. Massage can be a part of physical therapy or practiced on its own. It can also be highly effective for reducing the symptoms of arthritis, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and other disorders of the muscles and/or nervous system. It is an alternative health option to help alleviate the soft tissue discomfort associated with everyday and occupational stresses, muscular overuse and many chronic pain syndromes. It can greatly reduce the development of painful muscular patterning if employed appropriately after accidents involving trauma and injury.
